Why Behaviour Support Matters

At Nourish Services, we believe behaviour is communication. Every behaviour tells a story, about how someone is feeling, what they need, or what they’re finding difficult in that moment.

When children, young people, and adults feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, or unsafe, behaviours can become their way of expressing distress. Behaviour support isn’t about “fixing” or stopping behaviour, it’s about listening, understanding, and responding in ways that help people feel safe, supported, and capable.

When a person feels genuinely understood and supported, meaningful change becomes possible. With the right guidance, skills, and environment, people can build confidence, develop healthier ways to communicate, and feel more in control of their world.

Our approach focuses on understanding the why behind behaviour and supporting positive, lasting change that improves everyday life at home, in the community, and beyond.

How We Work with People

We begin by listening

We take time to understand your child or loved one. This includes their experiences, strengths, environment, and what their behaviours may be communicating. There is no judgement. Only curiosity and care.

We make sense of what is happening

Together we explore patterns, triggers, and unmet needs. This helps behaviours feel less confusing and more understandable. For many families this brings relief and reduces stress at home and in the community.
